The shoot was planned over 2 days, and we shot most of the footage at the co-op Museum in Rochdale and at the very impressive New Co-op Building in Manchester.

Liverpool. River of Light Trail.
23 March - 5 April 2021.

An outdoor illuminated art gallery along Liverpool's world-famous waterfront lit from sunset until 10.30pm

For 14 nights, 11 stunning audio and visual installations will form the free 2KM River of Light Trail.

The artworks are creations from leading local, national and international artists.

Details on the 11 artworks can be found below.

River of Light is for locals. If you are not local to the city centre, please do not travel. The trail will be back later in the year, by which time we hope that visitors from further afield will be able to visit.

I thoroughly enjoyed walking round the River of Light Trail. All the art instillations are interesting, beautiful and very emotive. With permission from Liverpool Air Traffic control and Liverpool Council, I was able to send my drone up to capture some stunning video footage, which I will be releasing shortly.

The River of Light Trail is well worth a visit, but unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions it is only open to residents of Liverpool. I was invited to the press open day and as I was working, I could visit and produce promotional photographs and video footage.

I was also allowed access to their lab facility. Product Development and Process Manager, Kate Horton, has been named as one of Lancashire’s most influential, innovative and inspiring young people in business at the Lancashire Business View’s Sub36 2020 Awards.

BRIEF:

Worked with the very talented Lisa Forshaw PR and Harry Lee on this 60 sec ad. for Harry's Brand of unique streetwear HL13.

The Models included stars from the stage and TV Soaps as well as Team GB. Normally I’m a stills guy but really enjoyed videoing, drone shots and editing this advert. Big thanks the Lisa from LWFITT for recommending my services. The Models included Maizie Craven, Chelsee Healey, Mollie Winnard, Faye Brookes and Jazz Franks .

Snowdonia was epic as always. The perfect weather to fly my Mavic Air 2 Drone, capture some time lapse videography, and of course summit Snowdon.

Snowdonia offers so much. From the various mountain railways like, Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways and of course the Snowdon Mountain Railway whcih takes you to the summit of the majestic mountain that is Snowdon.

As I mentioned in my previous blog I have been busy during Covid business disruption to study and look at new ways to improve and add to my services.

I signed up with a company called coptrz who have helped me with my studies and the minefield of requirements needed to be a commercial pilot.

Im pleased to announce that I have passed my exam and now embarking on my flight test.

The essential part of taking your PfCo to apply to the CAA, is if your not approved you put yourself and others at risk. The training is extensive and it has to be. Well worth the effort.

All this hard work will allow me to offer aerial photography and videography to my clients.

I decided to purchase the Mavis Air 2 Drone which has a very impressive 48mega pixal camera offer full 4k video.

I have also setup commercial drone insurance for peace of mind for myself and my clients.

How to Keep Busy as a Photographer during Covid

Covid 19 Pandemic has hit businesses hard this year.

With Weddings being postponed until 2021 and businesses struggling to survive, our photography industry is suffering, but I've found new ways to re-energise my business and look to the future with positivity.

I've been looking at ways to improve my online presence. With improvements to my website and social media. Keeping active with Instagram, Facebook and Twitter has shown that I'm still here and keeping busy with my photography.

Remember why you took up photography in the first place and thats to take great images. Getting out and about has kept my skills toned and has enabled me to create a great catalogue of stock images...which brings me on to just that subject(Stock Images)

There are some great stock image site for photographers to send their work to, enabling them to earn a few quid along the way.

To name a few. They vary in commission and are usually free to register with. Keep an eye on what images are trending and take similar yourself.

Studying

Even with 20 years as a pro photographer under my belt I can still learn new techniques and tricks. We have to stay one step ahead and developing new ideas and tricks will make you stand out. Ive even gone down the route of studying for my commercial drone pilots license, which I will be able to offer a new service to my clients.

I am passionate about my industry and want to pass on some positivity that we will come out the other side of these terrible times. Keep snapping and keep going.
